The installation of a landfill gas collection system at Imperial Carson Mobile Estates will begin in June and is expected to be completed by December.

Installation of the collection system--ordered by the county to resolve problems of methane gas seepage at the mobile home park, formerly a garbage dump--was originally scheduled to begin in April. County officials approved the delay after property owners explained that the design and review process for the system took longer than expected.

Methane is explosive in certain concentrations if contained in an enclosed area and exposed to a source of ignition.
