Landslide Aid Efforts Praised
Thank you for Mark Gladstone’s report (May 6) of California’s suggested $2-million loan to the City of Rancho Palos Verdes for landslide mitigation.
It is encouraging to see the team effort of the Rancho Palos Verdes City Council, the city staff, Assemblyman Gerald Felando and the state Assembly responding to a natural disaster.
If the amount of devastation sustained in Rancho Palos Verdes had happened within a 10-day period, governmental agencies would have been swift to respond to disaster help. A landslide like that in our city is a spaced-out, continuing disaster which has displaced over 128 homes, an arterial road and has silted our tide pools significantly.
FRANKLYN C. WEISS,
President, Rancho Palos Verdes
Council of Homeowners Assns.
