3 Die as Plane Seeking Lost Aircraft Crashes

GRANTS PASS, Ore. — Three persons were killed Sunday when their Civil Air Patrol aircraft crashed while they were looking for a light plane with a California couple aboard that has been missing since Thursday.
A dispatcher said the accident occurred near the Kalmiopsis Wilderness Area. The names of the victims were not released.
The plane was searching for the craft carrying Air Force Lt. Matt Luke and his wife, both 26, of Vandenberg Air Force Base, Calif. They disappeared on a flight from Arcata, Calif., to North Bend, Ore.
