Stoudt’s Passing Leads Stallions to 41-17 Victory
Cliff Stoudt hit 15 of 21 passes for 213 yards and three touchdowns, two to Jim Smith, as Birmingham defeated Orlando, 41-17, in a United States Football League game.
The victory moved Birmingham (10-4) a game ahead of New Jersey and Tampa Bay, tied at 9-5, in the Eastern Division. Orlando is 3-11.
Stoudt hit Smith on scoring tosses of 13 and seven yards and Joey Jones on a 50-yard play. In addition, Stoudt and Smith combined on a run-lateral for a 32-yard scoring play.
Smith’s scoring catches increased his league lead to 15. He caught five passes for 62 yards and Jones got six for 119.
