Traffic fatalities for Los Angeles County over the three-day Memorial Day weekend totaled 12 in California Highway Patrol jurisdiction areas and at least one other in the Antelope Valley. The CHP said the total in its southern district (all of the county except for part of the Antelope Valley and part of Long Beach) was two more than during the same period last year. Statewide, there were 52 deaths this year--10 fewer than a year ago.
