Forward Steve Zungul scored two goals early in the fourth period to break a 3-3 deadlock and propel the San Diego Sockers to a 5-3 victory over the Baltimore Blast and give them the Major Indoor Soccer League championship.

The title was the fourth indoor championship in a row for the Sockers, who won the North American Soccer League title in 1982 and 1984 and the MISL title in 1983.

The Sockers needed only five games to win the best-of-seven series. They beat the Blast twice in San Diego before dropping a 10-6 decision at Baltimore, but rebounded to overwhelm the Blast, 14-2, last Saturday to take a 3-1 advantage in the series.
