Simon Hunt has been named chief executive of Fremont-based Apricot Inc., the U.S. arm of the British microcomputer maker Applied Computer Techniques PLC.
Hunt, a partner with the accounting firm Peat Marwick in England, played a pivotal role in the $20-million public offering that financed Apricot Inc.’s creation last November, the company said.
Margarita F. Marshall, corporate business development officer at Citicorp Savings in Oakland, has been appointed to the State Board of Accountancy by Gov. George Deukmejian.
Amfac Inc., San Francisco, named Richard L. Griffith executive vice president and chairman of its agriculture and property group, which will be renamed Amfac Hawaii Inc.
Timothy H. Smallsreed has been appointed vice president-acquisitions and corporate development for Occupational Medical Corp. of America Inc., Oakland.
Brian J. Duffy has been elected executive vice president of Fireman’s Fund Insurance Co., Novato.
Jim Kessler, vice president and general manager of Sprocket Systems, the post-production division of Lucasfilm Ltd., has been promoted to the newly created position of vice president and general manager of theater operations. The firm is based in San Rafael.
Gordon L. Hough, former chairman of Pacific Telephone & Telegraph Co. (now Pacific Telesis), has been named a director of Menlo Park-based Telco Systems Inc.

Paramount Network Television, a unit of Los Angeles-based Paramount Pictures Corp., named Jeffrey Hayes senior vice president-creative affairs as part of a restructuring.
The restructuring, designed to “facilitate greater creative continuity,” pulls together development and production activities that had been largely separate, the company said. Hayes, in the newly created position, will report to John Pike, executive vice president-network television. Vice presidents Vicki Rosenberg (talent and casting), Joyce Brotman (comedy) and Peter Greenberg (drama) will report to Hayes.
James R. Boyle was elected executive vice president and chief lending officer at Gibraltar Savings, Beverly Hills. Also, Brian P. Sheets was named corporate vice president and assistant controller.
Kay M. Isaacson has been named senior vice president of Los Angeles-based Carter Hawley Hale Stores’ market services division.
Paul S. Leichenger, chairman of Standard Capital Corp., Century City, has been elected a director of Columbia National Bank, Santa Monica.
Columbia Pictures, Burbank, named D. Frank Jones senior vice president-market research.
David L. Reagan has been named senior vice president-marketing for personal financial services at Trust Services of America Inc., a unit of Los Angeles-based CalFed Inc.

Murray R. Bowes has been promoted to the newly created post of senior vice president and assistant to President Robert W. Buckingham. Bowes will be succeeded by Ramsey Meredith as vice president and managing director in San Francisco.
Also, Richard Brickner was promoted to senior vice president and creative director.
Patrick Boyle has been named a vice president of Bob Thomas & Associates, a Redondo Beach-based public relations firm.
Arun Kochhar was appointed vice president-operations and production at Los Angeles-based Prisma Corp.
First Interstate Bancorp, Los Angeles, named Juergen Lindemann senior vice president of the world banking group’s international division in London.

Gulf Resources & Chemical Corp., Houston, named Robert G. Boulton chairman, succeeding Alan Clore. Clore, the company’s largest stockholder, cited other business commitments in resigning the position but said he’ll continue as a director and member of the executive committee.
Borden Inc., New York, named R.J. Ventres president and chief operating officer, succeeding Eugene J. Sullivan, who continues as chairman and chief executive.
The Senate has approved the appointments of three senior officials in the Agriculture Department. Approved on a voice vote were John R. Norton III, deputy secretary and the department’s No. 2 official; Robert L. Thompson, assistant secretary for economics, and Peter C. Myers, assistant secretary for natural resources and environment.
Patrick M. Williamson, president of Columbia Pictures International Corp., has been appointed to the additional post of executive vice president of Columbia Pictures Industries Inc., New York.
Alan Greenspan, chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers under former President Gerald R. Ford, has been elected a director of Pittston Co., Greenwich, Conn. Greenspan recently served as chairman of the National Commission on Social Security Reform and is chairman of Townsend-Greenspan & Co., an economic consulting firm.
