Ross A. McClintock; Ex-Fluor Director

Ross A. McClintock, 64, former senior vice president and director of Fluor Corp., died of heart and kidney failure Thursday evening at St. Joseph Hospital in Orange.

A Santa Ana resident, McClintock was a founding partner of Western Offshore Drilling and Exploration in 1956, and became president of the company in 1963. After Fluor Corp. acquired Western Offshore in 1969, McClintock was named president of Fluor Drilling Services Inc., a subsidiary. He became chairman of Fluor Drilling in March, 1982, and retired for health reasons in 1984.

During World War II, McClintock piloted B-17 bombers over Europe. A former trustee of Chapman College and past director of the Petroleum Production Pioneers, he spent many leisure hours as a breeder of horses and Charolais cattle.

McClintock is survived by his wife, Andrea; two sons, Ross A. Jr. of Bakersfield and Jim Hanna of Los Alamitos; five daughters, Julia Hart-McClintock of Del Mar; Susannah Lipps and Mary Towne of Davis; Lori Hanna of Long Beach and Janel Hanna of San Ramon, and 13 grandchildren. He also is survived by his mother, Iva McClintock, and his sister, Barbara Ritter, both of Santa Ana.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity United Presbyterian Church in Santa Ana.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the St. Joseph Hospital Foundation Heart Fund.
