Jet Makes Emergency Landing as Controls Fail

WASHINGTON —
A World Airways DC-10 jetliner en route to Philadelphia with 201 persons aboard made an emergency landing Sunday at Washington-Dulles International Airport when its maneuvering controls failed.
The jumbo jet, Flight 106 from Charleston, S.C., made a safe landing, and there were no injuries among the 188 passengers and 15 crew members.
