Polls Open for Measure K Vote in Thousand Oaks
Voters in Thousand Oaks will cast ballots today on a measure that would raise taxes to hire more teachers, thereby reducing class sizes.
Measure K, placed on the ballot by the Conejo Valley Unified School District board, would levy a tax of $77 per parcel for four years.
The estimated $2.77 million a year raised by the tax would be used to hire 82 new teachers, reducing the teacher-pupil ratio from from 32 to 1 to 28 to 1.
To pass, the measure must be approved by two-thirds of those voting.
Thirty polling places will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
