ROCK REPETITIVENESS

I object to the sarcastic tone of Robert Hilburn’s “review” of Phil Collins’ concert at Irvine Meadows (“One More Time, One More Night,” June 4).

Does Hilburn really judge anyone’s music by the number of times a lyric is repeated in a song? If so, please have Princeling Hilburn run a tab on his copy of “Purple Rain.”

Isn’t there an editor to read Hilburn’s stuff before it runs? Doesn’t he or she feel a responsibility to provide open-minded reviews for Times readers? Run Hilburn’s stuff under “Opinion.”
