The opening last week of a 6,000-square-foot commercial building marked the completion of a federally financed revitalization project in Baldwin Park’s central business district. The Business Development Center at 4137-4141 Maine Ave. is designed to provide affordable rents for several tenants and to act as a catalyst for the revitalization of the district, a city spokesman said.
The Economic Development Administration of the Department of Commerce provided $2.5 million in grant money for the downtown revitalization, and the building cost about $250,000. The project included renovating Maine Avenue and constructing a public parking lot.
