Fire Damages 4 Burbank Motel Units
A fire caused about $20,000 in damage Friday to four units of a 60-unit Burbank motel, the Burbank Fire Department said.
Acting Battalion Chief Dean White said plumbers using a welding torch were working in the bathroom of a first-story room at the El Rancho Motel, 1001 N. San Fernando Blvd., when soundproofing material caught fire.
The fire spread inside a common wall of a bathroom in an adjacent room, then inside the walls of two second-floor rooms, White said.
There were no injuries in the fire, which began about 1:20 p.m. and was extinguished about 20 minutes later, he said.
