Share

Eleven people at a Compton motel and the inhabitants of a Rowland Heights mobile home park were forced to flee early Sunday as a result of separate fires that caused more than $2 million in damage.

While the mobile home park residents were able to return within hours, the others were being housed by the American Red Cross until more permanent arrangements could be made.

Damage to the Del Mar Motel, 1317 S. Long Beach Blvd., Compton, was estimated at $30,000.

The fire at Fitzpatrick Refurbishing Co., a refrigeration plant at 20657 Lycoming St., Rowland Heights, destroyed the three-story building and forced the temporary evacuation of a nearby mobile home park. Damage was estimated at $2 million.
