Five secondary schools in Southern California have been recognized by the U.S. Department of Education for outstanding achievements, Bill Honig, state superintendent of public instruction, said. The schools were chosen for the 1984-85 National Secondary School Recognition Program, which honors schools throughout the nation for such achievements as clear academic goals, positive school climate and excellent test scores. They included Lindero Canyon Intermediate in the Las Virgenes Unified School District, Rosemont Junior High in the Glendale Unified School District, Marina High in the Huntington Beach Union High District, Meadowbrook Middle School in the Poway Unified School District and Borrego Springs High School in Borrego Springs Unified School District.
