Three people were arrested outside the Santa Cruz Civic Center as demonstrators poured blood on the sidewalk to protest the crowning of Miss California inside the hall. One of those arrested was former cover girl Ann Simonton, 33, an organizer of the “Myth California” protest. Officials said the three probably will be charged with misdemeanors. Inside the hall, judges chose Miss San Mateo County, 23-year-old Lisa Davenport, as their favorite in the 62nd annual pageant. Davenport is majoring in radio-TV communications at California State University, Fresno.
