Store Offers to Make Videotaped IDs of Children

A local stereo company is offering to make videotapes of children that could be used by parents and police to help identify them, Mayor Tom Bradley announced Friday.
Bradley said the program, launched by the Federated Group, a discount television and stereo chain, will provide a permanent record of children-their voices, height, weight and other characteristics- so they can be easily identified if reported missing.
The free service will be offered July 1-3 and July 8-10 at each of the group’s 16 stores in Southern California. Parents may bring their own videotape or purchase one at the store.
