ET TU , LITTLE BEAST

With the kind of hype already surrounding the rerun of E.T., the little beast should have been portrayed with a Don King hairdo.
And don’t dismiss the E.T.-cocaine controversy so fast. There are only two types of people who actually enjoyed E.T.; people on drugs and people that have a taste for mushy, boring movies.
If you’re one of the latter, save your money this summer by renting “Fanny and Alexander.”

The Times received a total of 46 letters on the E.T. affair, 35 of which expressed varying degrees of outrage over the drug paraphernalia in the original June 16 cover illustration by Will Weston. The other letters were in reaction to E.T.’s “own” letter sent in by the Spielberg/Universal interests or the batch of pro-E.T./anti-Times letters published last Sunday.
