A grinning Mayor Tom Bradley received the spoils of a bet he made with Massachusetts Gov. Michael Dukakis in the Lakers-Boston Celtics NBA basketball championship series--six large lobsters. Bradley said Dukakis “had the nerve” to call and place the bet after the Celtics trounced the Lakers in the first game of the series, but he accepted because he “knew we would win.” If the Celtics had won, Bradley would have had to send Dukakis a crate of California oranges.
