A blaze that hit General Dynamics Corp. in Hawthorne resulted in the evacuation of a four-square-block area, a Hawthorne Fire Department dispatcher reported. The fire at 12125 Prairie Ave. began in one building at the industrial complex and spread to two other structures before being controlled in about 45 minutes. Nearby residents were allowed to return home a few hours later. No damage figure was available and the cause of the blaze was under investigation.

In Friday’s editions of The Times, a story about a fire at 12125 Prairie Ave. in Hawthorne incorrectly identified the building as belonging to General Dynamics Corp. It should have read Aerodynamics, a plating firm. The Hawthorne Fire Department said the flames were confined to that building and did not spread to structures on either side, as was reported.
