Sports Subsidy
I agree 100% with Stephen Hitchner Jr. (Editorial Pages, June 20), “Pro Sports Don’t Deserve a Spot in the Handout Line.” A system that provides the sports industry with handouts from the taxpayers’ pocketbook is worthy of overthrow.
No one believes that putting an end to taxpayer subsidy of professional sports (and the obvious abuses that subsidy encourages) will seriously erode anything more than the deep-pockets salaries of sports’ multimillionaire athletes.
