Costa Mesa Man Killed, 2 Others Hurt in Traffic Accident on Ortega Highway
An 18-year-old Costa Mesa man was killed and two companions were injured early Sunday when their car crashed on the Ortega Highway east of San Juan Capistrano.
Michael J. McKinney suffered fatal injuries when he was ejected from the car he was driving when it went off the road and overturned about 2:30 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
Loren Stabile, 20, of Costa Mesa, was taken to Mission Community Hospital, where he was in stable condition with moderate injuries. Another passenger, 18-year-old Brian Hunsaker, also of Costa Mesa, suffered minor injuries.
The cause the accident was under investigation, according to officers.
