Wildlife Waystation Rescue Bill Gains
The Wildlife Waystation, a Tujunga Canyon refuge for wild animals, moved a step closer to receiving emergency funds Tuesday when the Senate Natural Resources Committee approved a $300,000 bail-out bill.
The bill, which was narrowly passed by the Assembly on Monday, must now be voted upon by the entire Senate.
The measure, sponsored by Assemblywoman Marian W. La Follette (R-Northridge), would provide $300,000 to improve the nonprofit refuge’s water supply, sewers and roads. Until the improvements are made, Los Angeles County will not allow fund-raising events, which are needed to continue the refuge’s existence, on the site.
