San Diego police said more than $10,000 worth of jewelry, silverware, bronze statuettes and candlesticks was taken from a La Jolla home Tuesday after the woman who lives there was handcuffed to a hand-hold in her shower.

Police said a man forced his way into the home of Windy Beauchamp, 44, after she partially opened her front door to him about 9:40 a.m. The man then threatened her with what she assumed was a handgun and handcuffed her in the bathroom, police said, adding that she told them said she heard the voices of two men ransacking the house for the next hour. Beauchamp’s husband returned home an hour later and called police.

Police spokesman Bill Robinson said the burglary may have been committed by the same two men who took a Point Loma man’s 1955 Chevrolet from his garage Monday morning after binding the man, who is 85, and his live-in housekeeper to a bed.
