Singer Booked on Drug Charge

A singer for the Temptations singing group was booked on suspicion of cocaine possession this morning after officers who stopped him for speeding in the Lennox area found one-third of a gram of the drug in his pocket, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reported.

Ali Ollie Woodson, 33, who recently joined the group, was stopped at about 3 a.m. for going 52 m.p.h. in a 35-m.p.h. zone, deputies said. After booking, he was released on $2,500 bail. The popularity of the highly successful pop group peaked in the 1970s with such hits as “The Way You Do the Things You Do,” “Cloud Nine” and the Grammy-winning “Papa Was a Rolling Stone.”
