Strings’ Anne White Plays in Body Suit, Leads 24-22 Victory
Anne White, wearing the white body suit that made her famous at Wimbledon, led the Los Angeles Strings to a 24-22 victory over the Boston Bays Friday night in a TeamTennis match before 1,008 fans at the Forum.
White won all three sets in which she competed.
She teamed with Pam Teeguarden for a 6-3 victory over Andrea Leand and Ann Henricksson in women’s doubles. In singles, she defeated Henricksson, 6-5, and then teamed with Ross Case to beat Drew Gitlin and Leand, 6-2, in mixed doubles.
The Bays rallied in men’s singles with Mike Leach defeating Vince Van Patten, 6-3. In the final set of the night, Boston’s Leach and Gitlin beat Case and Van Patten in men’s doubles, 6-2. Van Patten and Case won the next game to give the Strings a 24-22 win in overtime.
