Expressing concern over the safety of youths who venture out late at night, the Los Angeles Police Commission endorsed a Municipal Code amendment that would require teen-age dance clubs to close by 1 a.m. on weekends and 10 p.m. weeknights. At present, dance clubs can remain open until 2 a.m. with permission of the commission. The amendment, which must have City Council approval, would prohibit people with arrest records from working in such clubs and would limit customers to those between the ages of 13 and 20.
