RIGHT ON, RAMBO

Share

The makers of “Rambo” have discovered that paranoia is a growth industry, that there is a great deal of money to be made by re-enforcing fears and prejudices and justifying all this in the name of patriotism.

Stallone’s brand of patriotism is simplistic and phony. He wraps himself in the American flag and dares anyone to dispute his macho view of right and wrong.

It would be nice if Stallone would turn his not inconsiderable talents to bringing people together, rather than encouraging them to stay fearfully apart. Of course, that might be harder and less lucrative. Still, Rocky didn’t used to be afraid of unlikely odds.
