A 9-year-old boy who was sleeping in his mother’s car when it was stolen early Sunday dozed throughout the experience and was found unharmed eight hours later, sheriff’s officials said. Marcus Anthony Barbee of Los Angeles was asleep in the back seat at 1:35 a.m. when his mother, Mary Barbee, left her Cadillac with its engine running in front of 11135 1/2 Mariposa Ave. while she escorted a relative to the door, Deputy Joe Garza said. Barbee returned to the car in time to see someone driving it away with her son still inside, Garza said. Police detectives, acting on an anonymous tip, found the car parked less than a mile away near West 104th Street and Vermont Avenue. Marcus, who was confused but unharmed, was inside. No arrests have been made.
