Indigo Illusion has been assigned high weight of 126 pounds for the $75,000 Ann Burnett Invitational Handicap Saturday night at Los Alamitos, the featured attraction this week at the Orange County race track.

Indigo Illusion moved her career bankroll past $840,000 with her win in the Vessels Maturity in late June, and the daughter of Beduino that once sold for $7,000 as a yearling can move past Easy Date, Moon Lark and Town Policy on the list of all-time leading money winners with a score Saturday.

The Vessels triumph assured Indigo Illusion a return engagement to the prestigious Champion of Champions, set in December at Los Alamitos.

Second on the Ann Burnett list at 123 pounds is Finely Tuned. Noted more for her poor gate manners than her accomplishments early in her career, the mare has blossomed into a top runner this season with stakes record wins in the Miss Princess and Charger Bar Handicaps.

Racing secretary Ron Church has also issued invitations to Charger Judy, Miss Jordache, Movin West, Miss Jet Tonto, Striding Miss, Barjos Buttercup, Painted Bug and Dashin Blaze.

Kicking off the weekend is the $20,000-Added Josie’s Bar Handicap, which gives 3-year-olds an added money opportunity down the full 550 yards of Los Alamitos’ straightaway. Two entrants in the July 6 Dash For Cash Derby, Calyx and Drippin Chocalate, highlight the 10-horse field.

Calyx, which recently was moved to the barn of trainer Russell Harris, won his first start for Harris with a Dash For Cash Derby Trials victory and finished fourth to Sixy Chick in the final.

The colt packs 123 pounds, one less than Drippin Chocolate, which finished sixth in the Dash For Cash and earlier this season was third to Easy Austin in the Laddie Handicap.
