Environmental Diagnostics Loses $224,868 in Quarter

Environmental Diagnostics Inc. of Irvine, whose chairman is former interior secretary James Watt, Monday announced a $224,868 loss for its second quarter, nearly twice the loss in the comparable period last year.

“That’s trivial, very small,” said Arden A. Kelton, president. “We’re still gearing up to make millions per year. The loss had been projected.”

For the period ended June 30, the company, which makes test kits to monitor contaminants in the environment, had revenues of $66,851, including $29,629 in interest income and $34,222 in total test kit sales. For the same period last year, the company had a loss of $118,123 on revenues of $1,784.

For the first six months of the year, the company loss $415,895, compared to $168,414 last year. Revenues for the period were $106,945 compared to $4,799.
