A 650-foot South Korean cargo ship collided with a steel fishing boat about 20 miles off Malibu, denting the ship’s bow and damaging the smaller boat, the Coast Guard said. Both vessels made it to port on their own power. Neither fisherman Paul Troutman nor his daughter were hurt in the accident and they docked the 52-foot Paula Ann at San Pedro Harbor, Coast Guard Lt. Jim Kelly said. Crew members aboard the South Korea-registered Pan Liberty, on a voyage from California to the Orient, found a 4-by-8-inch dent on the port bow about three feet above the waterline, he said.
