Gas Leak Clears Area

DETROIT —
A 2-inch natural gas line broke today in downtown Detroit, and police evacuated people from buildings in a two-square-block area for nearly an hour before stopping the leak. The plastic pipe was punctured by contractors working near a maintenance garage under construction for the downtown People Mover elevated rail line.
