Studio Colony Apartments to Open Next May

Construction is under way on Studio Colony, a $32-million, 450-unit apartment complex at Vineland Avenue and Bluffside Drive near Universal City. Completion of Phase 1, to include 216 units, is expected next May.

Apartments will have one and two bedrooms in 456 to 990 square feet and rents are expected to range from $560 to $1,000. Phase 2, 234 units, is expected to go into construction in November. The complex will have extensive recreational facilities.

Architects are Barry Berkus of Santa Barbara and Togawa & Smith of Santa Monica. The developer is Bluffside Development Co., a partnership of AVIV Realty and Development of Sherman Oaks and the Forest City Development Group, a subsidiary of Forest City Enterprises Inc. The landscape architect is Galper/Baldon Associates of Venice.
