Producer of Medical Analysis System Reports Loss of 3 Cents Per Share

International Remote Imaging Systems reported sales of $424,977 and a net loss of $440,181, or 3 cents per share, in its second quarter ended June 30. The company has not turned a profit since it was formed in 1979.

In the same quarter last year, the company reported a net loss of $813,528, or 6 cents per share. The company did not begin selling its products until last November, said Jeffrey S. Koren, vice president for finance.

For the six months ended June 30, International Remote Imaging reported sales of $764,864, up from $75,000 in the same period last year. The company reported a net loss of $1.03 million, compared with a loss of $1.49 million in the same period last year.

Based in Chatsworth, International Remote Imaging makes urinalysis work-stations for hospitals and commercial laboratories. The units, aimed at more efficient and accurate urine analysis, sell for $93,000 each, Koren said.
