The Sunnyvale, Calif.-based semiconductor maker said it will extend its 10% to 15% pay-cut program for another three months. “It is clear that market conditions are not improving, and no general upturn in demand this year can be expected,” President W. J. Sanders III said. “There can be no return to a full pay program until sales growth resumes or while losses are increasing.” AMD, the fifth-largest U.S. chip maker with 1984 sales of $931 million, said it would retain its policy of not laying off workers.
