Twin brothers have been arrested in connection with the stabbing death of an unidentified man whose body was discovered early Wednesday on the front lawn of a Fullerton residence.

Manuel Gonzalez Valerio and Gregorio Gonzalez, 22, were being held late Wednesday in the Fullerton Jail in lieu of $250,000 bond each. Fullerton police also detained their 34-year-old brother, Pedro, who lives two houses away from where the stabbing occurred but later released him, Sgt. Bud Lathrop said.

A witness said that at least one of the brothers was drinking with the victim in Valencia Park, just across the street from where the stabbing occurred.

“I can’t tell you what caused that peaceful gathering to deteriorate the way it did,” Lathrop said. “But they wound up across the street, a fight ensued for reasons that are unclear, and the . . . victim wound up with multiple stab wounds all over his body.”

Police found the man, who was apparently a transient in his mid-20s, on the front lawn of a home in the 3500 block of West Valencia Drive about 1:35 a.m.

The three men were arrested about 7:30 a.m. Wednesday at Pedro Gonzalez’s home at 3512 W. Valencia Drive.

A coroner’s investigator said authorities believe they know the man’s identity but are withholding the name until relatives can be notified.
