The San Diego Police Department narcotics street team seized about $10,000 worth of stolen jewelry when two people walked in on a narcotics raid, police said Thursday.
Spokesman Rick Carlson said officers with a search warrant entered an empty residence at 743 10th Ave. about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday. While they were there, two people entered with jewels on their wrists and fingers, in their pockets and in bags.
Some of the jewelry was labeled with the names of its owners, and police determined that it had been taken from a residence on 6th Avenue within the previous three hours.
The two also took police to a room at the Coast Motel, 501 7th Ave., where more jewelry was recovered.
The pair, who gave their names as Albert Brown, 32, and Realea Spivey, 23, were held at County Jail in lieu of $2,000 bail on suspicion of second-degree burglary and receipt of stolen property.
Police said they suspect that the pair planned to trade the stolen jewelry for drugs. Seven packets of heroin and some marijuana plants were found in the raid, but no other arrests were made.
