PHILADELPHIA —
Police killed a pain-racked horse after the animal’s hind legs became wedged in a manhole during an early morning ride, authorities said Sunday.
Keith Johnson, 33, of Philadelphia, was riding the horse along a downtown street when the animal apparently dislodged the manhole cover with its front feet, then fell in the hole, police said. The fall broke both hind legs.
