Former San Diego State Athletic Director Mary Alice Hill said she plans to meet with President Thomas Day this morning. Hill was fired as athletic director and reassigned to Day’s office on Aug. 8, which is the last time the two met.

“I had planned on going into work today (Monday),” Hill said. “But when I got back into town over the weekend, I had a message on my answering machine from Sally Roush (director of personnel services) saying to take a vacation day Monday. The message also said I was supposed to meet with the president, Sally Roush and Stacey (Sullivan) sometime Tuesday.”

Sullivan, Hill’s attorney, said he plans to accompany Hill to this morning’s 8:30 meeting.

“I haven’t been told the purpose of the meeting,” Sullivan said, “but I plan to do everything I can to cooperate to the extent we can. We still don’t know what her duties will be, what the terms are, or where she will work.”

On Monday, Day said: “I don’t think it’s civil for me to say who I’m meeting with every day. I’m surprised that she and her lawyer let out that information.

“Obviously, I have to meet with Mary about her assignment.”

Since Hill’s reassignment, Sullivan has maintained that Hill has been waiting to hear from Day. Last Tuesday, Day said he was waiting for Hill to get in touch with him. Hill and Day were out of town from Wednesday through the weekend. Day was in Washington, D.C. Hill attended the NCAA Council meeting in Boston, but she did not represent SDSU.

“It (going to the meeting in Boston) wasn’t the easiest thing I’ve done,” Hill said. “I’m still adjusting to the fact that I’m not the athletic director at San Diego State. But there were a lot of supportive people there. Walter Byers (executive director of the NCAA) went out of his way to spend time with me.”
