Soccer Teams From Mexico, Bulgaria, Chile and Brazil to Play at Coliseum

The national teams of Bulgaria, Mexico and Chile and the Brazilian First Division club Corinthians will participate in the third Nation’s Cup Soccer Tournament at the Coliseum today and Tuesday.

Bulgaria, which is close to qualifying for next year’s World Cup in Mexico, will face Corinthians at 4 p.m. today, while Mexico takes on Chile in the second game at 6 p.m.

This is the Bulgarian national team’s first-ever appearance in Los Angeles. The Mexican national team, meanwhile, will feature high-scoring star Hugo Sanchez, recently sold from the Spanish club Atletico Madrid to rival Real Madrid for $1.4 million.

Tuesday’s doubleheader begins at 7 p.m. with Chile playing Corinthians. Mexico and Bulgaria will meet in the second game at 9 p.m.

Club America of Mexico won the 1983 Nation’s Cup, while the United States national team won the competition last year.
