An El Cajon woman returning home from a vacation Monday morning discovered her husband in bed stabbed to death, the coroner’s office reported. Deputy Coroner Chuck Bolton said Alfred Summers, 57, a retired Navy chief, received multiple stab wounds to his upper torso and had been dead less than 24 hours.

Bolton said Summers’ wife, Connie, and his stepdaughter returned to their home in El Cajon from a three-week vacation. Connie Summers went into the bedroom to check on her husband and found his body. Summers had not accompanied them on their vacation because he was in poor health, according to Bolton.

Lt. Buck Posey of the El Cajon Police Department said the house had no signs of forced entry or ransacking. He said there is no apparent motive and no suspects.
