Rock Hudson

Howard Rosenberg really surprised us the other day (Aug. 2) with his condemnation of NBC, CBS, ABC and other local stations that intercepted Rock Hudson at his 2 a.m. arrival from France.

He stated that pictures of Hudson being wheeled from the plane on a stretcher were “an obnoxious violation of a possibly dying man. Everyone is entitled to respect and consideration at a time of personal tragedy.”

In this regard, Rosenberg is right on target. But wasn’t he aware that The Times was an equal offender with its reporter/photographer team also there and coming up with a four-column photo and story prominently displayed on Page 3 of the morning edition?
