Lendl Hot as 112-Degree Heat

NEW YORK —
Czechoslovakia’s Ivan Lendl, his power game as hot as the 112-degree temperature on the court, demolished seventh-seeded Yannick Noah of France 6-2, 6-2, 6-4 today to advance to the semifinals of the U.S. Open Tennis Championships for the fourth consecutive year.
In the semifinals, the Czech right-hander will face the winner of tonight’s match between five-time U.S. Open champion Jimmy Connors, the No. 4 seed, and unseeded Heinz Gunthardt of Switzerland.
