Gale Sayers, former All-Pro running back for the Chicago Bears, began his duties as interim athletic director at Tennessee State University.

Sayers and Dr. Roy Peterson, Tennessee State’s interim president, said the former football player would hold the postion for a year while the university searched for a permanent athletic director to run the school’s Division I-AA athletic department.
