Lucero Is Speedway’s Scratch Main Winner
Steve Lucero of Riverside won the four-lap scratch main event in front of 4,860 fans Friday night at the speedway motorcycle racing at the Orange County Fairgrounds in Costa Mesa. In the process, Lucero earned his first main-event victory in three years of main-event racing.
Lucero beat Brad Oxley of San Clemente and Robert Pfetzing of Santa Ana.
Jeff Jones downed Oxley to win the five-lap handicap main event. Oxley was penalized 20 yards for a rolling start. Tim McCasland of Costa Mesa was third.
John Sandona of Richie Canyon defeated Oxley to win the four-lap featured match race.
