Fullerton Women Win Tournament
Cal State Fullerton defeated the University of Idaho, 3-2, in a women’s volleyball match Saturday night at Moscow, Ida., to win the championship of the Northwest Classic.
The Titans, led by Joan McGhee’s 15 kills and Janet Kretschmar’s 11 kills, beat the Vandals, 15-1, 8-15, 14-16, 15-7, 15-3.
Earlier in the day, the Titans (5-0) beat Washington State, 15-0, 15-9, 8-15, 15-3, as Wendy Knapp and McGhee each had 12 kills. McGhee and teammate Jackie Bougie were named to the all-tournament team.
Fullerton next plays hosts to 16 teams--including perennial powers USC and San Diego State--in the Titan Collegiate Volleyball Tournament, which begins Friday in Titan Gym.
