Why is KTLA the only commercial station...

Why is KTLA the only commercial station in this market that shows films uncut? Why would KCBS-TV show “Mr. Smith Goes to Washington” in the middle of the night and then cut 20 minutes from it? Why would KCOP promote its presentation of “The Searchers,” then put the 119-minute film in a two-hour time slot? Still, most irritating of all was KTTV’s showing of “High Noon,” presented three times on Aug. 17 and 18, but shown only once in its entirety because of Dodger baseball runovers. While the logic of starting the movie after completion of the games is obvious, why start the movie already in progress--that is, with a half-hour to an hour missing? Please, programmers, do something to improve the presentation of films on your stations.
