The Region : Mother Held in Child’s Stabbing Death
A West Los Angeles woman, who lost custody of her baby daughter more than a year ago when a court found that she was a habitual drug user, was arrested on suspicion of stabbing the infant to death. Los Angeles police said Carolyn Neal, 28, was visiting 22-month-old Elisa at the home of the child’s grandparents when the baby began crying loudly. The grandmother saw blood spurting from the child’s side and summoned paramedics, who took her to a nearby hospital where she died. Homicide detectives arrested Carolyn Neal after questioning her at the hospital.
