Whittier
Trustees of the Whittier Union High School District have approved a $35.9-million budget for fiscal 1985-86. The new budget is 5.9% larger than last year’s budget.
About 85% of the new budget is for employee salaries and benefits. Other major expenditures for the coming year include $1.5 million for utilities, $570,000 in supplies, $165,000 for cafeteria food and equipment and $110,000 for books.
Most district money--about $27.1 million--comes from the state. Local taxes generate $4.1 million for the district, which also receives $1.5 million from the federal government.
Money from last year’s sale of the Monte Vista High School campus to Los Angeles County will be spent on repairs and maintenance of the district’s seven campuses. County officials paid $8.5 million for Monte Vista and have converted the campus into the Sheriff’s Department training academy.
